Leicester City travel to Thailand for post-season holiday
The Leicester City squad are currently in Bangkok celebrating the conclusion of the English Premier League on Sunday.
Chairman of the club Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha is taking the City squad on a tour of his homeland, who were pictured at Bangkok’s Temple of the Golden Buddha on Tuesday.
The temple’s abbot Chao Khun Thongchai warmly welcomed the team by presenting them with sacred amulets. The abbott has made several trips to King Power Stadium in Leicester in the past to bless the team.
City flew to Thailand shortly after their final Premier League match on Sunday, when they beat Southampton 4 – 1.
Alongside Chairman Top, manager Brendan Rogers, vice chairman Apichet Srivaddhanaprabha, director of football Jon Rudkin, midfielder James Maddison and goalie Kasper Schmeichel and vice-captain Jonny Evans are among those touring the Thai capital right now.
Also present are James Justin, Harvey Barnes, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Luke Thomas, Hamza Choudhury, Patson Daka, Wesley Fofana, Eldin Jukupovic, Ricardo Periera, Wilfred Ndidi, Marc Albrighton, Ayoze Perez, Ademola Lookman and Papy Mendy.
The Leicester City squad made two trips to Thailand in recent years under much different circumstances. The team came once in 2018 and again in 2019 for the funeral and cremation of the club’s previous owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who tragically died in a helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium in 2018.
The team finished 8th in the Premier League, earning 28.6 million Great British Pounds in merit payments from the Premier League for landing in the top half.
