Type 2 car insurance, also known as third party or fire and theft insurance in certain parts of the world, is a type of policy that covers property damage, excess third party bodily injury, and loss due to fire and theft.

Both passengers and the driver will be covered for personal injury, medical bills, and bail bond compensation under this policy. It also shields you from civil liability to third parties in the event of an accident-related injury. This package is best for private car owners who want full compensation at a reasonable cost.

What does Type 2 Car insurance cover?

You should purchase an insurance policy that will protect you and your loved ones from any unexpected accidents for your own peace of mind. The following is a list of the primary coverages available in a type 2 car insurance policy.

Third Party Liability Protection

Secure yourself from third-party civil responsibility for accidents and property harm incurred by an accident caused by your negligence. The insurer would pay for losses to third-party property for which the insured is technically liable under the responsibility for third-party property damages clause. The insurer will pay for injury to a third party’s health, body, or life incurred by the insured vehicle during the insurance period under the responsibility for third party bodily injuries and loss of life.

Driver and Passenger Protection

Secure the driver and any passengers in your vehicle from death or medical costs resulting from a car accident. In addition, have a bail bond guarantee to cover a driver who has been released from custody awaiting trial.

Car Protection

Protect your vehicle from theft, fire, or collision injury. In theft, during the coverage period, the insurer will pay for theft, robbery, gang robbery, or embezzlement, as well as the act or attempt of theft, robbery, gang robbery, or embezzlement, to the car, including specified additional accessories, machinery, and any fixture.

In fire, during the coverage period, the insurer will cover for any damages to the car incurred by fire, whether complete or partial.

What does type 2 car insurance additional coverage?

You may be able to add the following optional coverages to your car insurance policy, depending on your situation.

Your insurance agent can help you understand what each helps cover, so you can put together a policy that’s right for you.

Any covered person who sustains physical injury as a result of an accident while in, or getting into, and existing from the vehicle will be reimbursed for real and necessary medical costs, surgical expenses, and hospital service expenses. A car insurance policy requires medical payments coverage.

It will help pay for your or your passengers’ medical bills if you or they are involved in a car accident, regardless of who was at fault. Health payments insurance is also known as medical cost insurance or simply “med pay.”

Key Points:

  • Covered person who sustains physical injury
  • Reimbursed for real and necessary medical costs, surgical expenses, and hospital service expenses.
  • Also known as medical cost insurance or simply “med pay.”

The insurer will compensate the insured person(s) for damage or bodily injury caused by death, loss of hand, loss of foot, loss of vision, permanent disability, and temporary disability.

The company will pay you according to the indemnity sum defined in the Policy Schedule.

Key Points:

  • Insurer will compensate the insured person
  • Covers damage or bodily injury caused by death, loss of hand, loss of foot, loss of vision, permanent disability, and temporary disability
  • Company will pay you according to the indemnity sum

The insured or the driver is arrested by the police prosecutor for ongoing proceedings. Many car insurance policies contain a segment that outlines bail in depth. According to the contract, the insurer will pay up to 15,000 baht for the expense of bail bonds needed as a result of an accident, including related traffic violations.

Bail for a minor offense may be 30,000 baht or less, in which case insurance may cover the bulk of the cost. However, insurance can only cover a portion of the overall bail amount for more serious offenses. You will have to pay the remaining bail out of pocket in this situation.

Key Points:

  • The insurer will pay the expense of bail bonds needed as a result of an accident

Car Insurance type 1 coverage Options

Have a look below at some of the type 1 car insurance coverage options.

Named Driver plan

This policy has the most affordable premiums. You must name anyone who will be driving your vehicle (up to 4 people). This coverage only includes incidents that occur when one of the policyholders is driving the vehicle. When someone else is driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, coverage can be refused.

Any Driver 30 years old and more plan

This policy is slightly more costly than the Named Driver plan, but it provides more convenience. Anyone over the age of 30 can drive your car without having to be listed on your insurance policy. The main driver, or the person who will be driving your car the majority of the time, must be specified. This coverage would cover injuries that occur when the primary driver or someone over the age of 30 is behind the wheel of your vehicle. If someone under the age of 30 (who is not the primary driver) is driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, compensation would be refused.

Any Driver 25 years old and more plan

At a slightly higher price, this package includes more convenience than the Any Driver 30 Years and Up plan. Anyone over the age of 25 can drive your car without having to be listed on your insurance policy. The main driver, or the person who will be driving your car the majority of the time, must be specified. This coverage would cover injuries that occur when the primary driver or someone over the age of 25 is behind the wheel of your vehicle. If someone under the age of 25 (who is not the primary driver) is driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, compensation would be refused.

Any driver plan

This is the most convenient strategy, but it is also the most costly. Your car can be driven by someone who isn’t listed on your insurance policy. This coverage would cover all injuries, regardless of who is driving the vehicle at the moment. On the policy, you must also specify the main driver.

Compulsory Car Insurance

If you drive a car on Thailand’s public roads, you are expected to have Compulsory Third-Party Liability Insurance (CTPL), which covers accidents and deaths in the event of a motorcycle or car accident.

We can provide a -policy with outstanding credentials, ensuring you are road legal today. Contact us to know how much your CTPL insurance policy would cost. On this page, you can read more about the amount of coverage offered by compulsory car insurance in Thailand.

*Insurance premium prices vary according to the age and conditions in the policy. Should study details in the policy before buying.
