School packages rolled out for free in Valenzuela City for over 79,000 students

The local administration of Valenzuela initiated the distribution of comprehensive school packages to 79,451 pupils, traversing kindergarteners, primary students, and special education learners throughout the city’s public institutions. Weslie Gatchalian, the Mayor of Valenzuela, confirmed to The Manila Times yesterday that all public schools in the city are now in possession of these free school packs.

Every kit comprises a rucksack, eight notebooks, Mathematics and English textbooks, a rule, an intermediate pad, a case bearing crayons, pencils, pens, an eraser, a sharpener, as well as a fresh tumbler and a lunch box. Gatchalian revealed that the overarching expenditure of this project amounts to P67,590,967.18.

As per the city administrators, the eight-day handout process will proceed until the third week of this month, well before the school term initiates on August 29.

Gatchalian, together with Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, expressed immense excitement in helping learners from kindergarten to Grade 6 with fresh school packages. He stated, “We undertake this project yearly to support our Pamilyang Valenzuelano.”

“We are cognizant of the financial pressure parents endure during the back-to-school phase. Hence, the local government endeavours to alleviate their financial load, while simultaneously adding a spark of excitement for the students, inspiring them to learn with these new school kits,” he further elaborated.

The distribution of school packages in this city was initiated in 2014. Since the project’s inception, a substantial total of 832,394 kits have been dispersed reported Manila Times.
