In an exciting development for Bollywood music lovers, it has been reported that popular singer Arijit Singh will lend his voice to a recreated version of the hit song ‘Main Nikla Gadi Leke’ from the 2001 blockbuster ‘Gadar’. The reprise will be part of the upcoming sequel, ‘Gadar 2’, which is slated for an August release. Interestingly, Arijit will be performing alongside Udit Narayan, the original singer of the track.
The sequel to ‘Gadar’, which features Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprising their roles, has already garnered attention with the release of the song ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’. Now, the makers are set to recreate the magic of ‘Main Nikla Gadi Leke’ with the unique combination of Arijit’s contemporary style and Udit Narayan’s classic touch.
An insider provided some insight into the decision-making process behind the song’s recreation. “The original version of ‘Main Nikla…’ remains a rage even after 22 years, regularly featuring at parties and marriage functions. The idea behind its recreation was to add a new freshness without tampering with the original. Arijit Singh was unanimously chosen as the right voice for this endeavour,” said the source, as per a report in News18 Showsha.
Confirming this development, another source close to the film shared, “Indeed, Arijit Singh will be co-singing the song with Udit Narayan. The duo has created something truly magical. The makers have refrained from making significant changes to the original track in order to preserve its soul. They hold immense respect for Uttam Singh, the original creator of the song, and view these recreations as a mark of respect to him.”
In addition to the reprised track, Arijit Singh has also reportedly recorded an original song titled ‘Dil Jhoom’ for ‘Gadar 2’.
The much-anticipated ‘Gadar 2’ is directed by Anil Sharma and, in addition to Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, also stars Utkarsh Sharma. Ameesha will once again be seen as Sakina and Sunny as Tara Singh. The film is produced by Zee Studios and Anil Sharma Productions and is all set to hit the screens on August 11.
