Nora Fatehi sues Jacqueline Fernandez over alleged defamation amidst Chandrasekhar scam

In recent Bollywood news, a defamation lawsuit involving two prominent actors has captured public attention. Nora Fatehi, known for her acting, appeared at Patiala House Court under the directive of Metropolitan Magistrate Kapil Gupta to record her statement. The lawsuit was launched by Fatehi against fellow actor Jacqueline Fernandez and multiple media institutions she deems guilty of damaging her public image through circulating falsehoods.

Fatehi vehemently contradicted allegations labelling her as a gold-digger and linking her romantically to notorious con artist Sukesh Chandrasekhar. She stated, “They have accused me of fraternising with a con man, Sukesh,” adding that this has led to both reputational and financial harm. “The reason I initiated this lawsuit,” Fatehi continued, “is due to the ongoing Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into Sukesh for duping individuals of some Rs200 crore. I had, and have, no involvement or knowledge of this.”

The actor conveyed a growing sense of frustration, suggesting she was being unjustly portrayed as a scapegoat in the media storm that circulates this case. This, she believes, is for the protection of other individuals. Fatehi pinpointed her status as an outsider within the industry as contributing to her being perceived as an easy target. She urges for the damage inflicted on her career to be recognised and compensated for.

“The continuous and unwarranted harassment I’ve experienced,” Fatehi accused, “is largely due to Fernandez’s publicised commentary about my identity as a witness in the case.” Her belief is that she’s been dragged into disrepute by defamatory remarks sprouting from Fernandez and then proliferating through various media platforms. These parties, according to Fatehi, are likely acting in harmful concordance.

Fatehi’s official complaint denotes an alleged intentional plot contrived by Fernandez, aimed at ruining her financially, socially and personally. According to Fatehi, Fernandez unnecessarily entangled and defamed her as they are a part of the same industry.

The lawsuit unsettled the Bollywood fraternity which came about due to an ongoing investigation into Sukesh Chandrasekhar, He had allegedly swindled over Rs200 crore from the spouse of a previous Fortis promoter, among other accusations. Linked to this scandal, there have been claims that Fernandez herself received around Rs7 crore as part of the ill-gotten gains associated with Chandrasekhar.

The coming month of September will be crucial in this case, as another witness is set to record their statement. The relentless unfolding of this drama continues to keep all parties, along with the public, on the edge of their seats.
