Three arrested in Rohtak for the violent gang rape of minor school girl

Haryana schoolgirl gang rape ignites outrage over child safety concerns

In a harrowing incident, a ten-year-old school girl was violently abducted on her way to school and subjected to gang rape in a rural location in the Rohtak district of Haryana. The incident was confirmed by police authorities on Saturday, which resulted in the arrest of three individuals, whilst a concerted manhunt is currently underway for a fourth accomplice.

According to the formal complaint filed by the father of the survivor, two individuals, Sahil, of 23 years of age, and Vikrant, a 21-year-old, previously known to the minor, were among the abductors. She was forcefully deterred on her usual school route on Friday morning, pushed into a car along with an unidentified associate of the pair. It was disclosed that the brutal assault occurred in the moving vehicle, before the girl was taken to a nearby hotel to be violated again by one of the men.

Whilst Sahil and Vikrant have been placed into formal custody, the third accomplice is still at large. Based on the initial complaint, the local law enforcement also made the decision to apprehend Samit, 32 years old and the owner of the hotel where the atrocities were committed. He allegedly rented a room to the group, seeing they were accompanied by a minor girl in school uniform, which should have raised suspicion.

The survivor’s father said, “My daughter was still in her school uniform when the three men took her to the hotel. The hotel staff’s lack of alarm to this is deeply concerning.” He further explained how the perpetrators hastily left the building post the crime. The staff then helped the girl make contact with her father and guided her to a nearby police check post, where the official complaint was lodged thereafter.

The girl is currently receiving medical care at a private hospital in the Rohtak district. It was confirmed by Pradeep Dahiya, the officer in charge of the Sadar police station, that the medical examination concluded the girl had been raped. He further stated that the three men were being charged under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code, in alignment with respective clauses within the Protection of Children from the Sexual Offences Act.

Initially, the girl was admitted to a civil hospital but was subsequently moved to a private establishment after allegations of medical negligence were levied by the family. “Her condition is still not stable,” the grief-stricken father said. The family has also claimed that a local politician has been aiding in concealing the third suspect, accusations that the police have adamantly denied.

The minor was also visited by representatives of the child welfare committee at the hospital where they provided counselling support. An official from the committee, who requested anonymity, commented, “The police did not inform us about the incident, and we came to know about it through the media.”
